When a shopper brings an AI assistant into a compatible browser, the assistant can use your live page to help them find the right product and prepare their cart. This is available automatically on your page, including your custom domain. There is nothing to install or switch on.
What an assistant can do
- Search your visible products, collections, and published store policies
- Check a product’s current price, options, stock, booking times, or ticket tiers
- Show a selected product option on the product page
- Read and update the shopper’s cart, including changing quantities and removing items
- Help fill in checkout contact and delivery details, then take the shopper to secure payment or their order history
- Find answers in your published policies and support information
How the shopper stays in control
The assistant works in the same page, cart, and checkout the shopper sees. If a product needs a colour, size, booking time, membership plan, or personalisation, the assistant must get those details before adding it. At checkout it can help fill in contact and delivery details. The shopper confirms the order and completes any secure payment step. Order history still requires the shopper to sign in.
What happens when the shopper pays?
The assistant can help prepare the checkout and choose an available payment method. The shopper then confirms the order on the page. For card payments, Shopstar sends them to the secure Stripe or Paystack payment page to enter card details and complete any bank check. The assistant does not receive card details. Shopstar checks the payment status before showing confirmation.
Separate from AI Commerce
Your AI Commerce settings control separate integrations that list or sell products through outside assistants. Browser assistants work on your public page with the shopper’s own session. They can only see products your page shows to shoppers.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to enable this?
No. Browser assistant support is available automatically when a shopper uses a compatible browser assistant. Other browsers continue to show your page normally.
Can an assistant see private customer or order information?
It can read the current shopper’s cart and the contact and delivery details entered into the active checkout. The order history link still asks the shopper to sign in, and public product search only includes products visible on your page.
Can an assistant place an order without the shopper?
Only after the shopper confirms the order on the page. Card payments still require the shopper to finish any secure provider step, such as authentication or a payment challenge.
Does switching off AI Commerce disable browser assistants?
No. AI Commerce controls separate integrations. Browser assistants use the public shopping page the same way a shopper does.
